THe XX are signed to Young Turks and are probably one of the most exciting bands of this year, they are putting on a night in Clerkenwell and it pretty much a given that it will be amazing.

SKIPtheatre

I first read about SKIPtheatre in Dazed a few months ago and was reminded of the trio after seeing them in the Offset brochure, I only went to Offset on Saturday, even though the best line up was on Sunday - Maccabees AND Metronomy, sob. Anyway, I caught a glimpse of SKIPtheatre's outfits and wonder if they have been the main influence behind Topshop's circus window?

The hat is ACE and totally Tim Walker, but could I really wear it knowing that its been in the window of Topshop and isnt in fact a little Holly original? Nope.

Back to SKIPtheatre, this is what they say:

SKIPtheatre specialise in site-speific performance and theatrical events. Their work mixes devised theatre, clowning and live art with music orientated environments to create a dynamic event - which involves audience participation in skipping routines.

SKIPtheatre grasped early fame with their debut performance at Corsica Studios in early 2007, since then their work has gone nationwide, performing skipping routines at last years Glastonbury Festival, Love Box and at Camden People's Theatre. They have also performed at Fabric, Adventures in the Beetroot Field (Bournemouth), Aganovich Fashion Show (London Fashion Week) and at the celeb haunt Smash and Grab at Punk, to name a few.

As if that wasn't enough for the trio, SKIPtheatre also create on their own performance based club nights and parties around London, where they combine a selection of emerging talent from bands and dj's to performance, dance and art.

As you may know, I'm a London dweller and pretty much love the city. Yes I do miss hearing birdsong and not having to spend at least £10 as soon as you walk out of the door in the morning but at the moment I wouldn't have it any other way.

Some of the best parties happen in London, they are often much hyped, sporadic affairs, which makes them all the better. Some say that London nightlife died when Boombox ended, luckily for them Boombox/Ponystep founder Richard Mortimer now hosts a monthly Ponystep night at Hoxton Bar & Grill from which the photo above is taken. With the night documented by Ponystep.com and Dirty Dirty Dancing it always feels a bit like you missed the best party in the world when you gaze at the photos the next morning. I am yet to go to Ponystep and never did make it to Boombox (I know, why??).

Lets stop and take a moment to check out the gentleman gracing the top of this post - his face adorned with what look like woollen balls - the vivid colours remind me of the Marc Jacobs lego hairband and I love it. Nope, I never will stick things to my face but he looks rather ace.

Richard Mortimer does not, however, have the monopoly on London nights out. Only two weekends ago I celebrated my birthday at the very first Deadly People shindig created by those behind the famed Modular parties of last two or more years. Deadly parties really are one to watch and a little birdy tells me there might be a Deadly People festival in the pipeline.

I am desperate to make it to the next Grotbags night too (Kingsland Road), they look pretty fun indeed.

Part of the Drowned In Sound group, The Lipster has an all female editorial team and features articles from some of the most vocal, and talented, female journalists in the country. Recent articles include Helen Bownass' ace Carry On Camping, the Weekly Mag Report and The Rise of the Prom.

Everyday, or thereabouts, there is a Daily Sound article about a new artist or band - they recently featured Dels, Fleet Foxes and NLYM favourite Ladyhawke - these girls are so on the pulse they must not be able to sleep.

Last night I popped down to the launch party of TheLipster.com at London's AKA Bar, Lipster cupcakes adorned the tables, there were themed cocktails - if anyone can tell me how to make a Deneuve that would be most kind. DJs included George Pringle and New Young Pony Club, the London Rollergirls also came out in force but seem to have forgotten their skates - each had a nickname on the back of their t-shirt, our favourite? Correctional Felicity.

The barmen had to throw us out when all others had left, sign of a good party? I think so.

I'd quite like to go to this please, however, I'm working until late so I can't. Its going to be great (sung to the tune of the super annoying Frosties advert), Charlie Le Mindu is doing hair, Naomi// is djing and she mixes a mean tune, the theme is Musicals so start planning your outfit now.

Think bleeps, squelchy synths and angsty vocals, The Faint before they got a bit shit, beats that make you dance - on your seat - or manically in a dark club with neon strobes...think InnerPartySystem, in London, for one more night before heading back to Pennsylvania.

Go To Girlcore, Get Your Hair Did

Girlcore is the best night in East London, imagine 90's pop music mixed with some hot new ones and a completely unpretentious crowd. Tonight, Berlin's most hyped hairdresser Charlie Le Mindu will be cutting clubbers hair during the party at London's Catch Bar (Shoreditch High Street).

Any Sunday Times Style readers out there will have seen Fleur Britten's piece at the weekend on the man himself and the results of one of his legendary hair cuts. Ladies, just don't ask for a 'Plonkon' one of Mindu's specialities which is basically an inverse monk cut.
