Going GaGa

During LFW my friends and I had the chance to check out the fantastic Lady Gaga at the SuperSuper Fashion Week party held at Punk in Soho. We got sneaked in the back door by the record label (swish or what) as the queue went all the way on to Oxford Street. The crowd were very fashion with Niyi on the decks, lots of Lady Gaga fans were eagerly awaiting her in front of the stage, two boys in particular stood in the front row dressed only in blue Speedos and a body full of glitter.



When New York's finest Lady Gaga took to the stage she was wearing a full latex body suit, gold and black homemade snood and Margiela jacket. Her glasses were the piece de resistance, made by a guy from Nasa, the lenses were hooked up to an iPod and flashed up 'Ga Ga' when she came onstage.



Accompanied by two very bendy dancers, the show lasted around 20 minutes and by the end I was totally in love with the Lady herself. I predict big things for Gaga, who has already scored number ones across the world and written pop songs for Britney. Her songs Paparazzi, Just Dance and Dirty Rich are really catchy and danceable.



After the show i was lucky enough to meet Lady Gaga (see grainy pictures below), she commented on my tartan trousers and we talked Margiela, snoods and about her collection of designer glasses.

Last night's party, and the night before's and tonight's

Oh dear, its all getting rather hectic in NLYM's social calendar and this weekend is one fueled by energy drinks, crisps, vodka and some dancing - oh yes and some work too somewhere down the line.

Stag & Dagger festival on Thursday night was great fun, we caught Tubelord (awful name but good), Natty - I don't like Reggae, I hate it. Shame that the queue was so huge to see Diplo that we didn't even attempt to get into the Hoxton Bar & Grill venue so after a bit of drinking in the street we headed on down to Cargo to check out A-Trak.

For the uninitiated A-Trak describes himself like this:

When I was 13 I took my bar mitzvah money and bought myself some turntables and a mixer. I practiced for about 18 hours a day. Then I came out of my basement, packed my lunch and won a bunch of world championships. Joy! I formed a DJ crew called the Allies with Craze and friends. We toured the world for a while... I guess I've been touring for the last 11 years. Time flies.

2 hours of dancing later and then a bit more to Bang Gang DJs then its home time with the boy.

Next morning we head to Brighton for The Great Escape Festival to check out some more bands including the fantastic French DJ duo The Shoes, you may have heard the remix they did for Wiley's Rolex - it was tops of all the blogs.

Remember how excited you were when you first saw Justice? Get ready for that feeling to return when you see The Shoes, they even had a 7pm Barfly crowd dancing.

Now? Now we're off to see Dead Kids play a secret show, more later ...

Excitement city...

Ebony Bones - your new fashion/music icon

If you have read any of the 'Ones To Watch for 2008' in various newspapers you are bound to have heard of Ebony Bones, with a dubious background as an actress on Family Affairs, EB has turned herself into one of 2008's most talked about pop icons - yes that is a Hussein Chalayan necklace around her neck. I have desperately tried to imitate this look with an American Apparel scarf and failed quite hideously.

With a song called Don't Fart On My Heart you may take instant offence to Ebony Bones, stick with her - We Know All About You is a storming track. Think Karen O if she was a bit more bonkers and had an even more filthy mouth - honest.

Londoners check her out at the Barfly on Friday - onstage at midnight at the Adventures Close To Home night alongside Those Dancing Days. For those none Londoners go to the epilepsy inspiring www.myspace.com/ebonybones

Can we talk about her fashion - home made attire and fantastic head pieces make EB a trend inspiring force to be reckoned with.

Observer Music Monthly - spot on

It's taken me a while to blog about this but I cannot fail to let it get away unnoticed, Observer Music Monthly was fantastic this week (well, on Sunday). They pin-pointed a new musical revolution in the cover feature on 'New Eccentrics' featuring Foals, These New Puritans and Lightspeed Champion, Fred from Ox.Eagle Lion.Man was also quoted.

Fantastic coverage for both LC and TNP who's albums are either out now (LC) or next week. You can read the piece online for anyone who fancies taking a gander at the piece.
