My Desk

You may be wondering why I took a snapshot of my desk yesterday, well it's because I have a shiny new filofax and I wanted to show the world.

If Filofaxes make you think of 80's power suits, then surely they make perfect sense as desk furniture and general life planning assistance for this season? This Winter Filofax have created the limited edition Beauty Giftbox which will set you back a measly £35 and features a unique perfume pen atomiser, a mirror and a voucher for a free beauty treatment worth up to £100. Ace make up artist Jemma Kidd has also included some top make up tips in with the Beauty Giftboxes.

Wondering what a perfume pen atomiser is? Its basically a pen, the top of which conceals a small perfume atomiser (like you get as testers) so that you can top up your Daisy by Marc Jacobs (just me?) throughout the day.

You can buy one here

I have the Snakeskin one, it also comes in Pink and Fresco oh and PS the Citizen K was for 'research' and totally not me slacking off

Go swimming with PPQ...

A few seasons ago the only thing to be seen in around London was a PPQ dress and some horrendously painful high heels, they made history at September's LFW by showing an all black model catwalk and now they are....designing swimming caps. Yep, you heard - cult British fashion label PPQ have designed a range of one off exclusive swimming caps in collaboration with the Schweppes Abbey-Well 'Get Britian Schwimming' campaign.

Amy and Percy have created four caps, each influenced by a different British fashion craze: Punk, 50's Britain, Rockabilly and Royal. I'm not sure I'd recommend swimming in them but they look pretty cool.

What's brill about these caps is that they are all in the aid of charity and are available on eBay. Punk is up online now:

Sneaky Peaky - Giles for New Look

Giles Deacon's 9th GOLD collection for New Look is hitting the shops on Monday (9th Nov) - woop! The omnipresent designer, is it just me or can you not move for a Giles designed something or other being touted about - has created a range of party dresses, high heels and glamazonian jewellery, ok so thats not what the press release says, that sounds more like this:

Giles’ 9th collection is based around the louche London vibe that is around at the moment – modern British glamour at it’s finest.

Dresses are the key purchase of the season – beautifully structured and encrusted with beads. This is red carpet dressing with a twist – go for the white shift with s/s and criss crosses of black or its sister monochrome dress: one shoulder and asymmetrically striped. The glamour continues with intricate bead work tops with puff sleeves, slouchy sequin vests and tunic style tops with panels of sparkle – all perfect to wear with this seasons skinny denims. Leopard print is updated in flashes of black, lipstick and sand.

Gold by Giles also features amazing accessories including pewter strappy heels with jewelled fronts, sequin shoe-boots, peep toes in lilac sequin and faux snakeskin gladiator cage heels. Jewellery has an art deco edge in rectangles of black and clear carrying through necklaces, cuffs and earrings.

My verdict? heart the dresses, love the skirt, like the boots, dislike the strappy sandals and I didnt like the jewellery at all so I left that off the post.

Get your goggles round the collection and see what you think...

Leona Lewis gets the Westwood treatment

Vivienne Westwood has created some gowns fo Leona Lewis in gold lame and silver satin for her new single and album covers / videos.

According to Hilary Alexander

Each gown is made-to-measure in Westwood’s couture atelier in central London, constructed around a fitted, wasp-waisted, boned leotard, and features the designer’s signature cleavage-enhancing corset, allied to a romantic, crinoline-style skirt.

Ryantoon

Columbia Road market was bathed in glorious sunshine today, I bought some gorgeous flowers for a paltry £7 and popped into the shops this morning. I stumbled across the newly monochrome Ryantown which has rebranded as Ryantoon for 6 weeks only until 15th November in which time only black and white products will be onsale.

Those in London should pop on down all details are on his blog, those who arent so close can check out his Etsy shop

I made this...

I have written a blog for magazine site Ctrl Alt Shift, you should have a read of it by popping by

For those who dont know about Ctrl.Alt.Shift read the below, it really is ace;

Following our launch in June 2008, we embarked on a mission to fight social and global injustice. As well as exposing madness and bringing the world to rights on the website and magazine we took action against countries restricting the travel of people living with HIV and highlighted the 50 million women missing in India. Given our love for all things art, music and culture, we teamed up with Vice, BALTIC, Sadlers Wells, and launched a film project which resulted in five shorts which are now touring festivals.

Ambassadors and talent who got down with the Ctrl.Alt.Shift cause included Julian Barratt, Martin Freeman, Chipmunk, Young Knives, Metronomy, Nan Goldin, Alexa Chung, David Shrigley, Matthew Stone, T Magic, The Streets, Mystery Jets, Boy Better Know and MPHO.

Free Fever Ray album with tomorrow's Guardian

The Guardian are doing a Mail On Sunday on us (that's not something that is typed regularly) and giving away a free album with Saturday's paper. The CD features a complete live show recorded in Sweden including a cover of Nick Cave's Stranger Than Kindness which has only previously been available on a 7".

Unlike the Mail on Sunday this album won't be coming in the paper wrap but will be downloadable - I mean, CDs just take up valuable space these days - this is also a great reflection of the demographic The Guadian appeal to.
