Leona Lewis gets the Westwood treatment

Vivienne Westwood has created some gowns fo Leona Lewis in gold lame and silver satin for her new single and album covers / videos.

According to Hilary Alexander

Each gown is made-to-measure in Westwood’s couture atelier in central London, constructed around a fitted, wasp-waisted, boned leotard, and features the designer’s signature cleavage-enhancing corset, allied to a romantic, crinoline-style skirt.

Ryantoon

Columbia Road market was bathed in glorious sunshine today, I bought some gorgeous flowers for a paltry £7 and popped into the shops this morning. I stumbled across the newly monochrome Ryantown which has rebranded as Ryantoon for 6 weeks only until 15th November in which time only black and white products will be onsale.

Those in London should pop on down all details are on his blog, those who arent so close can check out his Etsy shop

I made this...

I have written a blog for magazine site Ctrl Alt Shift, you should have a read of it by popping by

For those who dont know about Ctrl.Alt.Shift read the below, it really is ace;

Following our launch in June 2008, we embarked on a mission to fight social and global injustice. As well as exposing madness and bringing the world to rights on the website and magazine we took action against countries restricting the travel of people living with HIV and highlighted the 50 million women missing in India. Given our love for all things art, music and culture, we teamed up with Vice, BALTIC, Sadlers Wells, and launched a film project which resulted in five shorts which are now touring festivals.

Ambassadors and talent who got down with the Ctrl.Alt.Shift cause included Julian Barratt, Martin Freeman, Chipmunk, Young Knives, Metronomy, Nan Goldin, Alexa Chung, David Shrigley, Matthew Stone, T Magic, The Streets, Mystery Jets, Boy Better Know and MPHO.

Free Fever Ray album with tomorrow's Guardian

The Guardian are doing a Mail On Sunday on us (that's not something that is typed regularly) and giving away a free album with Saturday's paper. The CD features a complete live show recorded in Sweden including a cover of Nick Cave's Stranger Than Kindness which has only previously been available on a 7".

Unlike the Mail on Sunday this album won't be coming in the paper wrap but will be downloadable - I mean, CDs just take up valuable space these days - this is also a great reflection of the demographic The Guadian appeal to.

Poetry In Bralle

Australian designers Turn Me On Design have collaborated with artist Andy Uprock to create a new jewellery line called Poetry In Braille.

amazing quote coming up:

"for a few years, i was roaming the streets of Sydney and putting up my poetry in Braille, creating a form of grafitti for the blind"
Andy Uprock

The jewellery line comes from such a perfect place that as soon as I read a piece about the collaboration I instantly wanted something from the collection. Nylon say: "Poetry in Braille forges a new experience in appreciating beauty in tactility" and no-one argues with Nylon.

It's time to Exchange

I dont go to Fulham, never have, have never had much reason to tbh. Today I was reading about a reason to pop on down. Ot's called The Exchange and is a new second hand dress shop from interior designer Birgit Israel, you take your clothes and they give you half the money.

Ok, so its not eBay and lets face it they are probably catering to people who have the odd couture number shoved in a dry cleaning bag in their walk in wardrobe rather than the likes of myself but the idea is a nice one.

According to Daily Candy:

Really groovy pieces only, please: big names like Prada, Anya Hindmarch and Vivienne Westwood go down a treat, but items by independent designers will do as well. A just-opened second location offers secondhand designer menswear, children’s wear alongside more frocks for the ladies, and a special vintage corner — authentic Chanel, Givenchy and YSL.

Yeah, you get the drift, Fulham is the new destination for window shopping...

Tights please!

Urban Outfitters well and truly got me with their latest mail shot, which I received today, how? By advertising tights on the day that the weather turns arctic. There has been a lot of press around the House of Holland tights, my favourites are the letter print designs in black - even River Island are selling them if you prefer to pick yours up from the high street.

Urbo have some fab tights at the moment, here is a run down of my faves:

BDG Frenchy floral leggings
£26

Printed Legging £28

Ripped tights £12.00 (you can't rip tights that evenly on your own!)

My faves, the HOH £10 letter tights

You can buy them all here

Because everyone loves a good book....

I have always wanted to go to the Hay On The Wye literary festival but felt that maybe its for people who don't say AMAZING every other word and shriek swear words at every opportune moment...Also, where the hell is Hay On The Wye?

When I heard that the festival was coming to London my ears pricked up, I mean, it's always easier to tackle something slightly alien when you know your escape route. The Guardian Hay Festival will be coming to London between 23rd - 25th October and getting settled at Kings Place - which is the home of The Guardian and I've always fancied a sneak around. LIterary names involved include Will Self, Martin Amis and Faye Weldon.

Why am I writing about this on my fashion blog you may ask? Well, Sophia Bennett who has written fashion novel Threads will be taking part in the mini Hay, this Saturday she will be hosting the Fashion with Compassion event. A limited edition issue of Threads will be available with a cover designed by the one and only Giles Deacon, £1 from each book will go to Save the Children. The event takes place from 11am in the St Pancras Room for those 11 plus hopefully I wont feel too stupid there then!) for more info go here

AND "Luminaries including Gareth Pugh, Stefano Pilati, Nick Knight and Alexander McQueen all reflect on the rise of the fashion film as a medium."

Diesel held their annual Diesel:U:Music party last Thursday, The Big Pink and Heartsrevolution played live and lots of celebrities packed into the fantastic venue - a huge bunker underneath Westminster University.

I drank too many free mojitos and then got lost underneath the building - ace fun.

Best dressed celebrity? Lily Allen of course

B.O.O.T.S

It's officially October, I like to think it's official once it's few day into the month, so it's got a little cold and Autumnal which can only mean one thing - it's time to invest in a good pair of boots.

The last few years has seen lots of ladies donning knee high boots, often vintage or vintage look, this year it's all change thankyouverymuch and you have two choices when it comes to choosing your winter footwear: ankle boots OR over the knee boots.

Personally, I won't be rocking the over the knees - too expensive for a good pair - legs will look like sausages, that kind of thing - however, I see that as a reason for me to get at least two pairs of ankle boots.

Last year I was a fan of Miss Selfridge's PVC ankle boots with exposed silver zip, unfortunately I wore them so much they gave up on me completely one day and pretty much ripped in half. I also have a pair of brown boots with a gold ankle buckle and clompy walking boot heels that I'll be getting re-heeled this week. The only downside of those boots is that any contact with carpet and I become a whole bundle of static electricity, must to the hysterics of my old work colleagues.

So this leads me on to this year's new boots buy....
