The Bricklane Takeover

I'm looking forward to going to the Macmillan Brick Lane Takeover on 13 August, even though it starts at 12noon. It's basically like a Stag & Dagger with 12 hours of live music all over the ditch area. Noel Fielding will be taking part as part of Doctor and the Pencil DJs, for more information check out

Their thing is 12 hours, 7 venues, 1 ticket.

Chanel flashmob

I went along, couldn't find it for ages and then when I did, found that it was pretty small. Hardly T-Mobile proportions...nice idea, I like the partnership with Queens of Vintage but a shame it didnt really happen. Surely this signifies the death of the flashmob?

The September Issue - I gots stillz

You may recall that the fashion world got a little bit overexcited when news got out that film maker R.J Cutler was releasing a behind the scenes film about Anna Wintour and her creation of the September 2007 issue of Vogue - the largest issue the magazine had ever published. The people behind the film are calling his access to Ms Wintour unprecedented

Here's the Sundance Film Festival video about the film:

i'm a bit obsessed - Sky Ferreira

According to The Guardian she makes Lady Gaga look a bit old and rubbish...well, hello Sky, knock me out

Coco Before Chanel - some stills!!

Having written about this week's Chanel flashmob, I am really excited to have got my hands on some stills for the film Coco Before Chanel, so take a look at the lovely Audrey Tatou who plays Mademoiselle Chanel...'a rebel who finds the conventions of her time oppressive, and instead dresses in her lovers' clothes…'

This is the story of Gabrielle Chanel, who begins her life as a headstrong orphan, and through an extraordinary journey becomes the legendary couturier who embodied the modern woman and became a timeless symbol of success, freedom and style.

Coco Before Chanel is released in UK cinemas 31st July 2009.

Warehouse Press Day

The lovely Sophie from the Warehouse press office was kind enough to invite me to the Warehouse Christmas Press Day last week, I was really impressed.

There were a number of collections on show, with a range of outfits all bang on trend and fashion forward.

Think sequinned hero jackets with protruding Margiela style shoulders - a particular favourite of mine, as well as the black dress with gold studs, which came accompanied with matching leggings.

The silver sequinned zebra print trophy jacket is also simply to die for. There are a lot of metallics involved in this collection and I for one, can't wait to see it in store.

The accessory collection feature lots of black leather and silver studs, big bags with serious chains think biker but with a feminine edge.

Brings a whole new meaning to fashion forward

After blogging about the flashmob for the brand new Chanel film yesterday I was immediately followed by Chanel on Twitter - not actually the House of Chanel you understand but some web bot style twitterer which aggregates every Chanel item for sale on the internet. If you're are interested in checking it out you can find it here:

My stream of conscious then reminded me that I hadn't blogged about the brand new Net-A-Porter iPhone App, once downloaded you can buy things from your iPhone - which is pretty obvious but pretty freaking dangerous when you are fed up on the bus. If, like me, your budget does not stretch to NAP style prices then you can have a good old window shop - should that be new fangled screen shop? You can also check out their magazine, email people who have more money than you pictures of things you like (a slightly more subtle way of saying BUY ME THIS)and create your own wish list for when you become mega rich.

They'll be adding new items and content every Monday and Wednesday, so even more reason to check it out frequently. You can get it from the iTunes App shop.

Other good fashion iPhone Apps include's App which includes pictures from fashion shows, Style File blogs, couture shows, fashion reviews, and even video feeds. Also, Chanel have a great one - I found a great description of it on TotallyHer so i thought I'd paste it below:

You can get news, photos, videos, and product information from one of the biggest names in fashion. You can watch fashion shows, see the latest offerings from the Chanel line, access an RSS feed of Chanel’s news, and check a store locator if you just have to have whatever item you just saw. So far Chanel is the only fashion company to release an app like this, and there’s no news yet if others will follow. The Chanel iPhone App is free from the App Store.

So fashion has gone totally heard it here first

Chanel Flashmob? heard correctly

You may think flashmob and then instantly think T-Mobile and if you do then, hell, they have done a good job. Or you may think, really? People are still doing this?

Well, the answer is yes, what's more weird is that Chanel are doing one this next Thursday to promote the release of the new Audrey Tatou Chanel biopic, Coco Before Chanel. All you need to do is turn up dressed like Coco or in very Chanel looking attire

Chanel Flash Mob
What: Put on your best Chanel or dress as Coco herself in an LBD and pearls for the first-ever mass fashion gathering.
Why: Fast fashion at its finest.
When: 30 July, 6 p.m.
Where: St. Pancras International Station, Pancras Rd., NW1 2QP.

What do you think? Tacky or great? Hmmm...

SHOWStudio Shop opens!

Such a good idea..SHOWstudio shop opened on the 14 July so I suggest taking a peek sharpish. The idea behind is showing the process behind the creation of fashion imagery, which for people like me, and hopefully those who read this blog is simply fascinating. SHOWstudio shop has now launched in Mayfair, part live studio, part gallery.

They will be selling props from iconic fashion shoots and catwalk shows. There will also be webcams set up where you can watch designers creating unique pieces in the space, which you can then buy.

The shop will not only run on Bruton Street in Mayfair but also online, housed in a former brothel(a long time ago), the space 1-9 Bruton Place, go see

The Stellar Boutique

Weirdly enough an internal email came from someone in my company whose friend has set up a brand new vintage clothing website called The Stellar Boutique, of course I was massively curious and took a good old look, it's actually REALLY GOOD.

Selling vintage, bohemian clothes and homeware, the boutique has vintage archives from the 60s, 70s and 80s as well as sections for bags and shoes. The styling on the site is great and spot on for making you want to own something 'this very second', which is the key to a good online store in my opinion.

You can find it here

Club kids, you need to know Fabienne Morel

Fabienne Morel is a textile designer who has taken inspiration from London's underground club scene for her brand new jewellery collection.

Daily Candy describe the jewellery as:
Comprising intricately beaded geometric earrings, cuffs and neck pieces in bold neon shades, the collection will please creatures of the night and daydreamers alike. Wear the whimsical, handcrafted designs all summer as the perfect complement to a glowing suntan.

Oxfam DIY fashion competition

Check out amazing stylist Mrs Jones here with Jameela from T4, Mrs Jones, the lady behind Kylie's 'Cant Get You Out Of My Head' outfit, is the judge of a DIY fashion design competition launched by Oxfam.

The basic premise is that you take an old / recycled garment and transform it into someone amazing, beyond amazing, immaculate enough to dazzle Mrs Jones and win a one of a kind garment designed by Mrs Jones as well as being featured on the Oxfam website.

The competition is a way to launch Oxfam DIY the charity's new website.

Entries close 22nd July....can you make the grade?

My Favourite New Video - Lisa Mitchell 'Coin Laundry'

Lisa Mitchell is a new artist on Sony Records, she is fantastic and this video is simply mesmerising.

A new IT tote

A great graphic design legend, also known as my friend Steve Price has designed this brilliant tote as part of a recent exhibition. A tongue in cheek take on the Keep Calm and Carry On posters that have been everywhere recently, these tote bags are a great way of describing my bank balance during the recession. Luckily, a snip at £7.50 per bag, this won't give my Natwest account too much to worry about.

If you would like a tote like this, you can go here and buy one.

Vauxhall Skate...

You may remeber that I wrote about last year's Skate Almighty, which was sponsored by Nokia. Well, this year Vauxhall are staking their claim in the skating world and putting on an exclusive one off event. The Vauxhall Skate event takes place on 29th July at a secret location in Shoreditch (not Vauxhall as I first thought), providing the rollerdisco soundtrack will be Sophie Ellis Bexter, Carl Barat, Remi Nicole, Queenz of Noise and Alfie Allen.

As well as taking part in some roller action you can get your hair did at the in car pit stop hair salon by legendary Gossip hair stylist Lyndell Mansfield

They say:
Combine all the above with a rotating mirror-ball car, hot dogs, cup cakes and four-wheeled art commission by none other than legendary illustrator Kate Moross, Vauxhall Skate is sure to provide the rock and the roll.

I say:
Go here for the chance to get your hands on some tickets

High - a film by Jonathan Kelsey

Shoe designer Jonathan Kelsey, writer Gregory De Roeck and director Sara Dunlop have come together to create “High”, a film inspired by Jonathan Kelsey, the shoe brand.

The full film will launch on at 6pm on Wednesday the 15th July 2009.

Is this the new wave of luxury brand advertising? Maybe. This film focusses on Kelsey's 'edgy aesthetic', according to film maker Sara Dunlop the film has a strong narrative, setting it apart from other fashion short films. According to the press release the film 'takes a menacing turn when one woman goes after her next fix'.

I have been given a teaser of the film - which you can see below, thanks to Aiden at Starworks.

Dazed's 3D cover

Lots of chatter on the blogosphere about Dazed's 3D cover at the moment, for those who haven't heard about it, this month's issue is a specially commissioned shoot of Marios Schwab's 3D inspired collection. Featuring 3D photography by Terry Tsiolis and styling by Nicola Formichetti, plus a specially inserted pair of 3D glasses and exclusive interview with the innovative designer.

Lots going on with 3D at the moment, Dazed, as always have done it really well.

Get me to the corner shop!

Two fashionable chanteuses

Chanteuse number one:
Beth Jeans Houghton

Beth Jeans Houghton from Newcastle is a brand new singer songwriter, I read about her in today's Observer Music Monthly and she looked brilliant in the press shots, take a listen to her via myspace
Chanteuse number two:
Paloma Faith
Ok, so she's already had her single Stone Cold Sober on Radio One's playlist but I can still recognise her style. An East London stalwart, Paloma was destined for great fashion things, her tracks are good too. Now signed to Sony Paloma looks like she is going to do really well. Check her out on MySpace too

New obsession: Jalouse Magazine

I have been to France a couple of times over the last few months and picked up a copy of French fashion magazine Jalouse each time. The first issue I purchased focussed on British girls including Alexa Chung, PIxie and Peaches and Daisy Lowe. This month's issue is the Wedding Trasher's issue and features an extended shoot envisaging Mark Ronson and his girlfriend Josephine de la Baume's wedding, they have only just started going out and the wedding was by far a mock up rather than the real thing but hell does it look ace! Charles de Castelbajac walks Josephine down the aisle, guests include Corey Kennedy and beau Jamie from the Klaxons, Alice Dellal and her punky boy, some French boys and girls who I am yet to know about.

The shoot uses Ray Ban, Chloe, Paul Smith, Tom Ford and tonnes more designers, you can check out a video of the shoot's 'making of' below.

The magazine also features some great bands and artists including Chairlift, Pains of Being Pure At Heart, Soko, Little Boots and brand new Ed Banger signing Clara 3000.

I would really recommend the magazine to anyone going on their hols to France this year, it is written purely in French but anyone with a GSCE in the language can pretty much get the gist of the articles. The shoots are gritty and perfectly encapsulate a fashion moment.

Jeremy Scott for Adidas I LOVE IT

As amazing as Summer is - and yes, hopefully this year we will have an amazing summer weatherwise and hangtime wise! I think the best thing to come in Autumn is Jeremy Scott's second collection for Adidas Originals, I am totally in love with the black dress with multi coloured Adidas symbol and simply have to have it!

Jeremy Scott's collaboration with Adidas is a bold move for the brand. As you can see the collection is really colourful and provocative range.

Adidas shot some promo videos about the range which I have embedded below...he's one cool man huh?

Sexy knickers with moisturiser? Yep, you heard

Andrex have come up with a genius way of marketing their brand new shea butter toilet teaming up with luxury lingerie designer Ayten Gasson, who has created a pair of limited edition silk shea butter knickers. The knickers are brown and cream silk - the cream panel in the knickers is enriched with Shea Butter to make them extra silky.

Choosing Liz McClarnon to front the campaign may have been a bit of an oversight (she's just not my kind of celeb but hey, whatevs) it's good that Andrex have got a charity involved too and the fact that it is a really worthwhile cause makes it all the better. The knickers are available for sale from for £10 per pair, £5 from every sale goes to Look Good...Feel Better, which is a charity for women undergoing cancer therapy. By providing make up and skincare workshops to help women cope with the outward signs of cancer and its side effects the charity hopes to boost ladies' confidence and wellbeing. If you want to find more about the charity you can check it out at

Oh ps any East London lingerie lovers can buy a pair of these knickers from Bordello on Great Eastern Street.
In the meantime, this is a fashion blog so lets check out Ayten Gasson's other designs....

Ayten designs vintage inspired silk lingerie, all of her designs are handmade using silk and Nottingham lace, she is stocked in shops across London, Glasgow, Belfast, Brighton, Germany and America. You can find her designs in the flagship Topshop store on London's Oxford Circus.

Currently on her website are five ranges - Elizabeth, Grace, Annabel, Penelope and Emily. The picture above is from the Elizabeth range, below is from the Grace range, I really like her designs...vintage inspired underwear is totally on trend at the moment too.
