Peter Jensen & Tim Walker do Dover Street Market

The clue is in the title, Peter Jensen and Tim Walker (my favourite, favourite) have collaborated for an installation at Dover Street Market. Reminiscing on Peter Jensen's inspirational trip to Greenland whilst researching his Autumn Winter collection.

According to the blurb:
Based on Jensen’s AW09 Greenland themed collection, the range will include beaded knitwear and panelled wool dresses plus unique pieces created especially for the store, such as faux-fur leggings. The collection will also feature a Greenland inspired print designed in collaboration with Tim Walker, a long standing Peter Jensen friend and collaborator, recently crowned Fashion Creator of the year at the British Fashion Awards 2008.

The range will include both women’s and men’s pieces from the collection, featuring knit wear and accessories, prints and checks and stunning beaded knit dresses and cardigans. Furthermore two bespoke prints have been created solely for this special installation, the first being a lady bird print by Peter himself; the second, a print by Tim Walker, a charmingly naive collage of aforementioned lady birds, moons, a child’s handwritten musings, and a detail of the collections signature village print.

Peter Jensen says of the project, “Working with my friends at Dover Street Market, and with Tim has been a fantastic opportunity to bring creativity and commerce together in an interesting and unique way. The first capsule range I made for the store sold really well and we’ve been able to add to that, and offer loyal customers something they just can’t buy anywhere else.’

Hi R-Patz

Gratuitous Robert Pattinson post alert, he does look pretty handsome on the cover of Another Man, styled by Nicola Formichetti and shot by Hedi Slimane

AnOther Man speaks to the ‘other’ man, a man not being catered to currently by fashion magazines. AnOther Man mixes credible modern icons with art, music, high impact fashion photography and strong opinionated writing by key cultural voices. A magazine for men who like their lifestyle rocked with passion and intelligence, luxury and a sense of adventure.”
Editor In Chief, Jefferson Hack

Yes Jefferson and the ladies love it too, Another Man is out on 1st October

London Fashion Week: Sunday

(body Agent Provocateur, skirt American Apparel, shoes Kurt Geiger - for some reason I'm quite embarrassed by this piccy so it might not stay up much longer)
So this was me on Sunday all ready for the foray into fashion city for the third day of LFW. Sam and I headed stright down to The Strand where we visited our lovely friend Kirsty from Tatty Devine who was resplendently dressed in Vivienne Westwood from head to toe:

Cheeky monkey wouldnt stay still so I accidentally chopped a bit of her Charlie Le Mindu'd hair out of the piccy, oops. The Tatty Devine stand at 180 The Strand was by far the best out of all of the stands in the three storey building...

We met Rosie, one of the founders of Tatty Devine and she let me take a 'far away' shot of the new collection. Below is the classic collection laid out on a side board that I really want.

Next stop was the Eley Kishimoto show, we swigged some free LFW Chambord cocktails on the way and got into a very big queue...

Photos used from the show have been taken from weknowwhatyoudidlastnight.com, prints as always were strong and bright with my favourite being a feather print which came out at the end. The shoes were a real high point for me too, I will definitely be purchasing one or two pairs (oh dear)

After a couple of hours in Gordon's Wine Bar with the boy - we ate so much I thought my boning (in my corset) was going to stab me - we headed to Vivienne Westwood Red Label. Some unexpected things graced the catwalk, including a spliff, a dog and a costcutter plastic bag...oh and Pixie Geldof.

Here's what The Times said:
Straw-chewing models with just-been-tumbled hair braved overloud techno to show off a collection riffing on classically English sartorial touchstones. These were boating stripes, patterned silk brocade that could have been plundered from some on-its-uppers country estate, Argyle and a pretty old floral.

My favourite pieces from the collection were three dresses, a black runched short number, a shocking pink figure hugging dress and silver foil looking creation.

Here's the Telegraph's video from the show....I heart Hilary Alexander

London Fashion Week - Saturday

EDIT: the jewellery from the Hannah Marshall show was made by Hannah Martin...not Dominic Jones as I read in Hilary Alexander's review. Apologies for any offence taken by my readers - shame it took a nasty comment to bring this up....

I found out I had won tickets to the Red Bull Fashion Factory on Friday afternoon through a competition I entered on Urban Junkies' mailout, I won by proposing who would win in a fight between PPQ and Vivienne Westwood, guess who I said?

Anyway, my friend Katie and I arrived at the Red Bull Fashion Factory at 4pm to be greeted by the lovely PR Graham who told us all about the day and let us wander round the Red Bull Fashion Factory space before taking us into the first show of the day, Hannah Marshall.

Pic from The Telegraph's website
Those who have seen previous collections from Hannah Marshall will be aware of her penchant for black, the Daily Telegraph's fashion ed hilary Alexander describes her as 'having a wicked way with black' and she's not wrong. The collection was predominantly white, black and purple in leather, suede and sheer fabrics. Big shoulders, conical bras and oversized suit jackets were the order of the day topped off with talon like rings and elbow bangles created by jewellery designer Hannah Martin. My favourite outfits were a black dress with huge shoulders and a white oversized suit jacket which turned out to be cullottes. Here is my snap of Hannah with Erin O'Connor who walked for Hannah after writing enthusiastically about her in Vogue back in March.

There was some downtime between the Hannah Marshall show and the PPQ SS10 collection so we popped into a nearby wine bar before returning to witness PPQ's collection with heightened excitement (ie, we were a bit drunk!)

News travels fast these days so its pretty certain that most will be aware of PPQ's catwalk featuring entirely black models, a historic happening for London Fashion Week. Unfortunately, I couldn't help but think this was to detract from a slightly underwhelming collection. Starting off with a very colourful pallette of short trademark PPQ dressed before segueing into their Adidas collab collection and moving onto some huge ruffle shoulder dresses. The front row was celeb heavy, featuring both Geldof sisters, Alexa Chung, Michelle Wiliams, Leigh Lezark as well as Leah and Nat Weller (Nat is actually male, despite Hilary Alexander referring to them as the two Weller daughters!)

London Fashion Week...Friday

So I started my romp around London Fashion Week on Friday night when the boy and I went to The Hospital Club in Covent Garden to check out Nova Dando's 'Happy Fashion Week' party. Saam, him what makes amazing music videos and probably adverts now too, was doing some live VJing when we arrived which was pretty ace. This was followed by dance troupe House of Dangerkat performing in Nova's Rainbow collection...

The room was crammed with a fun London crowd including the likes of Grimshaw, Susie Bubble, Patrick Wolf and Ty from New Young Pony Club who was so lovely that we ended up going for some dinner with her afterwards. La Roux was billed on the invite but I wasn't sure what form her involvement would take. For those who don't know, Nova and Elly from La Roux work closely together when it comes to the styling for the band, I was pretty impressed then when La Roux played a 30 minute set with her full band. As you would imagine they were great and looked fab as usual as they modeled the Rainbow Collection. Its almost impossible to see La Roux in such a small venue these days so we all had a little dance and sang along to bulletproof in shreiky voices....strong look.

Most pictures taken from Nova's blog House of Dangerkat videos from FredButlerStyle

The piece de resistance was a screening of a film showcasing Nova's Rainbow Collection made by Saam Farahmand, I have grabbed some stills from the film below, think vivid colours and long fringing, Nova describes her designs as 'clothes for performance' and the performances were as exciting as the collection.

Nova is one of The Hospital Club's Creatives in Residence...such a good idea for a member's club with a wealth of members from creative industries to create philanthropic programmes for talented people.

Philip Lim 3.1

A review from Style.com included the following sentences, which sent a pang of excitement through my bones:

"But unlike Fall's collection, with its bohemian rock-chick vibe, Spring wasn't about an overarching theme or look: It was about giving them a reason to shop, and as such, there were many arguments here for a girl to unfreeze her AmEx."

So hi, Phillip Lim 3.1, let's begin....

Red shoes
PVC jackets
Heavy metal dresses

GAP - Borntofit.com

Some more social media things for everyone to geek out to, just me? Ok, just me. I wrote about the GAP pop up store on Kingly Street a while back and wanted to add to this with a little post about BornToFit.com.

Borntofit.com is a facebook site that features celebs talking about what they we’re born to do and gives you the opportunity to make your own Gap ad as well as get style advice.

They have also created an app for all you iPhone users, here's some blurb.

The AKQA-designed Apple app, the StyleMixer, is a ‘social shopping’ application that allows users to organize their outfits, get feedback from Facebook friends and the StyleMixer community, integrate images of clothes from their own closets and get ideas from other community members.

I am interested in the idea of this but I also see the faux shiny optimism of GAP a little laughable, i'll check out the store and let you know what I think!
