Because everyone loves a good book....

I have always wanted to go to the Hay On The Wye literary festival but felt that maybe its for people who don't say AMAZING every other word and shriek swear words at every opportune moment...Also, where the hell is Hay On The Wye?

When I heard that the festival was coming to London my ears pricked up, I mean, it's always easier to tackle something slightly alien when you know your escape route. The Guardian Hay Festival will be coming to London between 23rd - 25th October and getting settled at Kings Place - which is the home of The Guardian and I've always fancied a sneak around. LIterary names involved include Will Self, Martin Amis and Faye Weldon.

Why am I writing about this on my fashion blog you may ask? Well, Sophia Bennett who has written fashion novel Threads will be taking part in the mini Hay, this Saturday she will be hosting the Fashion with Compassion event. A limited edition issue of Threads will be available with a cover designed by the one and only Giles Deacon, £1 from each book will go to Save the Children. The event takes place from 11am in the St Pancras Room for those 11 plus hopefully I wont feel too stupid there then!) for more info go here

If there's one thing you do in your love you more life.....

go to Hay! I've been three times - in early 20's - and it's magical. the place itself is so beautiful, even if you're just going for the cupcake stalls in the little street markets (when cupcakes were just spongey cupcakes, not mounds of fancy gross icing as they are today)... and to singalong to old Jools Holland - (he forces you up to clap)... and laze around in the sun reading... G2, or something.... x

Thank you so much for mentioning the book! But I'm afraid the event isn't happening any more. However, I'm really hoping to do my talk next year and in the meantime, I'm signing copies of the book tomorrow (Saturday 24th) in Harrods at 3pm. And very soon the competition to design your own outfit will be launched on www.threadsthebook.com. sophia xxx
