London Fashion Week - Saturday

EDIT: the jewellery from the Hannah Marshall show was made by Hannah Martin...not Dominic Jones as I read in Hilary Alexander's review. Apologies for any offence taken by my readers - shame it took a nasty comment to bring this up....

I found out I had won tickets to the Red Bull Fashion Factory on Friday afternoon through a competition I entered on Urban Junkies' mailout, I won by proposing who would win in a fight between PPQ and Vivienne Westwood, guess who I said?

Anyway, my friend Katie and I arrived at the Red Bull Fashion Factory at 4pm to be greeted by the lovely PR Graham who told us all about the day and let us wander round the Red Bull Fashion Factory space before taking us into the first show of the day, Hannah Marshall.

Those who have seen previous collections from Hannah Marshall will be aware of her penchant for black, the Daily Telegraph's fashion ed hilary Alexander describes her as 'having a wicked way with black' and she's not wrong. The collection was predominantly white, black and purple in leather, suede and sheer fabrics. Big shoulders, conical bras and oversized suit jackets were the order of the day topped off with talon like rings and elbow bangles created by jewellery designer Hannah Martin. My favourite outfits were a black dress with huge shoulders and a white oversized suit jacket which turned out to be cullottes. Here is my snap of Hannah with Erin O'Connor who walked for Hannah after writing enthusiastically about her in Vogue back in March.

There was some downtime between the Hannah Marshall show and the PPQ SS10 collection so we popped into a nearby wine bar before returning to witness PPQ's collection with heightened excitement (ie, we were a bit drunk!)

News travels fast these days so its pretty certain that most will be aware of PPQ's catwalk featuring entirely black models, a historic happening for London Fashion Week. Unfortunately, I couldn't help but think this was to detract from a slightly underwhelming collection. Starting off with a very colourful pallette of short trademark PPQ dressed before segueing into their Adidas collab collection and moving onto some huge ruffle shoulder dresses. The front row was celeb heavy, featuring both Geldof sisters, Alexa Chung, Michelle Wiliams, Leigh Lezark as well as Leah and Nat Weller (Nat is actually male, despite Hilary Alexander referring to them as the two Weller daughters!)

Great review of the show. Hannah Marshall does indeed have a wicked way with black.

The hand-crafted pieces of silver sculpture, however, were in fact by jewellery designer "du-millenia" Hannah Martin.

Perhaps a little reading/research would serve well. Credit sheet perhaps?!

Hi Anonymous,

Just found this out last night from my friend Em (who you probably know too)

I was going to place a retraction on here - i took the information from Hilary Alexander's review so apologies you feel offended. The plan is to write a whole piece on Hannah too.

Maybe less rude next time?
